As a rideshare driver, you’re used to picking up a few common types of passenger - the partier asking to turn the music up, the business person making business deals on their phone, the chatterbox who wants to tell you their life story. That’s life as a rideshare driver in 2015, but what if you’d been driving in the past?

Put aside the fact that cars didn’t exist, much less rideshare cars, more than 100 years ago and journey with us as we detail what historical figures might have been great passengers to pick up and transport.

Charles Dickens

The writer of Oliver Twist, Great Expectations, and A Tale of Two Cities knew how to spin a good tale. Most of his books were originally published in installments of two chapters at a time. That’s a great length of story for a 20 minute rideshare ride.

Frank Sinatra

The famed singer was notorious for his love of the nightlife so he’d definitely jump in during surge hours. He was also a great tipper. He once asked a doorman at a hotel in Chicago what the best tip he’d ever received was and when the guy said $100, Sinatra promptly gave him $200. Sinatra followed up by asking who’d given the doorman the $100 tip and the doorman replied that it had come from Sinatra too.

Walt Disney

The creator of Mickey Mouse and founder of Disney theme parks and studios loved entertaining people and was famously enthusiastic and positive. Those are the kinds of people you want to hop into your car in the middle of a long run. Walt could also tell a good tale which would come in handy on those longer trips.

Coco Chanel

The style icon was the creator of a number of famous fragrances, including Chanel No. 5. However long the trip, you know she’d leave your car smelling good.

Julia Child

The famous chef and author had a truly infectious laugh and would probably give you some cooking tips from the back seat. She could also speak French so maybe she’d teach you how to ask for a five star rating in another language.

Abraham Lincoln

A kind and gentle man known to be a master storyteller and man of the people. Might be tough to fit his 6’4” frame and that stovepipe hat into a Prius, so let’s hope you’re driving an SUV when you pick him up.

Here are a few living people that might be nice to pick up some day too.

Larry David

The creator of Seinfeld and Curb Your Enthusiasm was a limo and taxi driver in New York City when he was still a struggling comedian so he can relate to your time behind the wheel. He also have some great minor things from his life to complain about in a funny way.

Johnny Depp

Not only is he one of the biggest movie stars in the world but he’s also one of the biggest tippers. He once gave a Chicago waiter he liked a $4000 tip. Plus, you never know which accent he’d have when he got in the car.

Jennifer Lawrence

She’s famous, talented, and beautiful but the star of the Hunger Games franchise is also known for her down-to-earth ribald sense of humor. Can you imagine having J-Law cracking fart jokes in your back seat?
